 Anambra Govt Warns Against Purchase of Encroached Land at Trans-Nkissi By MaryAnn Chukwuma The Anambra State Ministry of Lands has warned members of the public against purchasing plots at TransNkissi Phase 1, behind the Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, from persons claiming ownership on behalf of the Umuosodi family of Onitsha. The warning was contained in a public notice dated Sept. 28, 2026, with Ref. No. PS/ML/2026/CR/VOL.II/028 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe, for the Commissioner. According to the notice, the Ministry became aware that persons alleged to be members of the Umuosodi family had invaded and commenced clearing portions of the land with the intention of selling them to unsuspecting members of the public. It said compensatory plots had been allocated to the family and other families in Onitsha before the current administration. FCT POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR RAPE AND IMPREGNATING TWELVE YEAR OLD MINOR.

The FCT Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit on 2nd October 2026, while on routine patrol around Airport Bridge Taxi Park, observed a fully tinted navy blue Volkswagen vehicle with registration number KMC567LQ parked with its windows wound up. However, the vehicle was shaking. The officers, suspecting foul play, approached the vehicle and opened it, only to see one Zayyanu Halilu raping a twelve (12) year old minor.


Following the discovery, the suspect was promptly arrested and the victim was rescued. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had, on several occasions, lured and sexually abused the underaged victim in the said vehicle parked at the same location, with threats to "deal with her" if she reveals the abuse to anyone. Medical examination also revealed that the victim is about three months pregnant as a result of the abuse.


The victim is currently receiving medical care and assessment, while the suspect remains in Police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.


The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi PhD., FCAI, urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the whereabouts, safety and welfare of their wards at all times.
