Anthony Fauci invokes Fifth Amendment during Senate hearing on COVID-19 origins and pandemic response questions Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment rights Wednesday during a Senate hearing, refusing to answer questions about the COVID-19 pandemic, its origins and his actions while leading the nation’s response. Fauci appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee as lawmakers examined issues surrounding the pandemic and his former role as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. In his opening remarks, Fauci said he made the decision on the advice of his attorneys, despite his long history of cooperating with Congress. Today tuesday,three Syrians were convicted for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia which was announced by a spokesperson from their ministry of interior.The three Syrians are Hamud Hassoun,Hassan Musalamani and Yussef Al-Halgqi,were all arrested with a large amount of banned amphetamine pills.The three of them were beheaded for their crimes.Their beheading in the northern Jawf region increased to 44 the number of executions carried out in the desert kingdom this year.Human Rights watch last month expressed alarm at the surge in the number of executions in the country,where some 19 people were beheaded between August 4 and 40.8 of those beheaded had been convicted of non-violent offences such as drug trafficking and sorcery.They described the use of the death penalty in their cases as particular egregious.
