 Again, Gov Diri Tasks Traditional Rulers To Maintain Peace, Security At King Awala's Coronation  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again urged traditional rulers to remain focused on the maintenance of peace, security and stability in their various domains as part of their contribution towards the development of the state. Governor Diri made the call at the weekend during the coronation ceremony ofHis Royal Majesty King Victor Awala, Ebeni-Ibe the Eighth (VIII) of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, the state capital. Represented by his deputy, Dr Peter Akpe, the Bayelsa Chief Executive acknowledged the critical role traditional rulers play in society as the custodians of culture and tradition, stressing that his administration will continue to hold them in high esteem. HURRICANE GONZALO,KILLED 3 PEOPLE TODAY IN LONDON.

                 According to the London Ambulance service,one woman died after a tree was uprooted opposite Knightbridge Barracks,Kensigton,during high winds caused by the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo.Else where a man was crushed to death underneath a van in Canvey,Essex,after a van fell on top of him.The victim,in his thirties,was underneath the van repairing it when a strong gust of wing caused it to fall off a car jack around 10:40am today.Then another man who was said to be around 63 years old was killed after his car hit a bridge near Merseyside,Liverpool,this morning.At the time of the crash the area was experiencing gusts of up to 35mph and heavy rain as the tail end of hurricane Gonzalo blew ashore.Three more people,one of whom was in a wheelchair were injured by a fallen tree at South Wick Recreation Ground in West Sussex just before 10:am.More photos below.                                                                                         The back of the car was destroyed after being hit by the tree earlier this morning which also took out a nearby lamppostA 21-year-old man had to be treated for shock after his car sank into a river following a crash with a lorry in March, CambridgeshireThe car ploughed through a 10ft section of metal railings before plunging into the river, though nobody was seriously injuredA child gets a soaking after waves poured over the sea front in Blackpool today after the remains of Hurricane Gonzalo hit the UKWalkers at Newhaven stopped briefly to admire the view as huge waves crashed against the harbour today after the tail end of Hurricane Gonzalo blew ashoreThe coast also took a battering as high waves swept along by strong wind hit the lighthouse at Newhaven harbour, East sussex
