 “We Don’t Want Violent Politics In Kaduna,” Group Tells Political Parties, Urges Them to Call Supporters To Order The Kaduna Peace Ambassadors Forum has called on political parties in Kaduna State to caution their supporters and prevent further violence following recent clashes involving members of major political parties in the state. The group said Kaduna had enjoyed relative peace for a long period and should not return to an era of violent politics. In a statement, the forum expressed concern that political disagreements and clashes in the past had sometimes escalated into religious conflicts, with consequences for communities across the state. It therefore called on security agencies to take appropriate measures to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the recent clashes, while strengthening preventive measures to avoid a recurrence.  World Cup to feature mid-half hydration breaks

The 2026 World Cup will feature hydration breaks in each half, effectively dividing matches into four quarters, FIFA announced.

Referees will pause games 22 minutes into each half for three-minute water breaks, allowing players to rehydrate. Unlike last year’s Club World Cup in the United States, where breaks were limited to extreme heat, these hydration pauses will be mandatory for every match, regardless of venue or weather. The three minutes will be added to stoppage time, but the game clock will continue to run.

The tournament, set to run from June 11 to July 14 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be the first 48-team World Cup. FIFA also plans to hold three opening ceremonies before each host nation plays its first match. The tournament kicks off June 11 in Mexico City with Mexico facing South Africa. The U.S. men’s team will play Paraguay in Inglewood, California, on June 12, opening Group D alongside Paraguay, Australia, and a playoff winner from Slovakia, Kosovo, Turkey, or Romania.
