 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

The trial of Azeez Fashola, popular musician also known as Naira Marley continued on January 27, 2021 with Justice Nicholas Oweibo of a Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos admitting more evidence against him. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is prosecuting Naira Marley for offence bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud. He pleaded "not guilty" to the 11 counts filed against him. The EFCC had on February 28, 2020, through its second witness, Augustine Anosike, sought to tender in evidence a compact disc containing information, analysis and extractions from the defendant’s iPhone. The defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN had objected to its admissibility, which was equally opposed to by the prosecution. Delivering ruling today, Justice Oweibo dismissed the objection, noting that "the disk and investigation report include some of the contents extracted from the iPhone which has already been admitted in evidence".   A Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, presided over by Justice Agatha Okeke, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 issued a bench warrant against Uzoma Udemba, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Communication Trends Limited for failing to appear in court for his trial. The court also ordered his surety to show cause, why he will not be committed to prison. Udemba was arraigned by the Uyo zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on November 19, 2020 alongside his company, Communication Trends Limited and Samuel Onyeanuforo for allegedly broadcasting English Premier League matches without the permission of MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, the rights owner. The defendants pleaded not guilty to the three-count charges and were subsequently granted bail in the sum of N3m each with a surety each in like sum.   Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, have arrested three Dubai based suspected internet fraudsters and 14 others in Lagos. They were arrested, Tuesday January 26, and Wednesday 27, 2021 at different locations following series of intelligence detailing their alleged involvement in internet fraud and other related offences in Nigeria and abroad.   The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Nigerien Air Force, Colonel Amirou Abdoulkader, has assured the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) of his commitment towards strengthening the strategic relationship with the NAF in fight against insurgency and other criminal activities affecting Nigeria and the Republic of Niger whilst also taking advantage of the opportunities available in the NAF to enhance professionalism and build needed capacity for the effective and efficient employment of Air Power in his Service. The Nigerien CAS disclosed this today, 26 January 2021, when he led a delegation on an official visit to the outgoing NAF CAS, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, at Headquarters NAF, Abuja.
