 TROOPS OF 6 BRIGADE CLASH WITH VIOLENT EXTREMISTS AND INSURGENTS, NEUTRALIZE 2, RECOVER ARMS AND AMMUNITION In a significant operation on 14th March 2024, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army demonstrated their resilience by engaging in a fierce confrontation with violent extremists and insurgents in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State. The troops while acting on intelligence received on the presence of armed groups in Nayinaya, Garin Daniel and Garbatau areas of Bali Local Government,   promptly launched a proactive combat patrol to pursue the extremists. Upon encountering the armed groups, the troops effectively utilized their superior firepower, resulting in the elimination of two extremists and the successful recovery of Two AK-47 Rifles, Four AK-47 Magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62 MM Special Ammunition.  Man arrested for raping 9 year-old daughter in Adamawa, blames Alcohol and drugs Men of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a 42year-old man identified as Auwul Shaibu, for allegedly r@ping his 9-year biological daughter. The incidents occurred in Kabak Mubi South local government area on  Monday, March 11.  The suspect Auwal Shaibu was apprehended following a report by his wife Asmau Isa.  During the course of investigation, the suspect confessed  committing the offence but blamed it to taken too much alcohol and Drugs. Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the command, SP Nguroje, said the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered for a diligent  investigation and prosecution of the suspect upon completion of the investigation.

 At least 60 people died on a migrant boat that lost power as it tried to reach Europe from Libya, an aid group said on Thursday, citing accounts from those rescued. "Survivors report that at least 60 people died en route, including women and at least one child," said Marseille-based SOS Mediterranee. The group's Ocean Viking rescue ship is currently heading for port, carrying 224 people rescued from different boats. Among them are 25 from a boat that survivors said had set off from Zawiya, Libya on March 8 – only for its motor to give out three days later. 'Deeply troubled' UN body the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said it was "deeply troubled by news of a shipwreck in the Central Mediterranean." Passengers reported drifting without food or water for several days, said SOS Mediterranee. It was not immediately clear how those who died were said to have lost their lives.  NNPC Vows to End Fuel Importation in 2024 as PH Refinery Begins Production in 2 Weeks The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), yesterday, reiterated its determination to end the decades-long importation of petrol and other fuels into the country in 2024.  Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO)of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, disclosed this in Abuja at the unveiling of two books, “Dynamics of Petroleum Products Marketing,” and “Insight into Crude Oil Marketing,” both written by former Group Executive Director of the National Oil Company (NOC), Professor Billy Okoye. Kyari assured that the company was now on a new trajectory to providing the country with adequate fuel supply.  Senegal's opposition leader Sonko freed from jail The release of Ousmane Sonko and his second-in-command and presidential candidate Bassirou Diomaye Faye follows weeks of crisis after President Macky Sall delayed presidential elections. According to another source: Senegal jailed opposition leaders Ousman Sonko and Bassirou Diamoya Faye were freed from custody on Thursday. This latest development came following the outgoing president Macky Sall's general amnesty, endorsed by the National Assembly of Senegal.  Senegal is scheduled to hold its presidential election on the 24th of March 2024 to elect its next leader.

 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS ADMINISTRATOR OF PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY PROGRAMME  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro as Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP). Dr. Otuaro holds a PhD in Comparative Politics & Development Studies; an MSc in Public Administration, and a BSc in Education. He had previously served as a top-level executive of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) with a surfeit of experience across multiple sectors, including infrastructure development, security, environmental remediation, as well as oil and gas. The President anticipates that the new Administrator will bring his requisite experience and know-how to this role to revamp the Amnesty Programme and advance the realization of its founding purpose and vision.
