 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. *File Photo: Activity at a vandalised oil pipe              Six suspects were arrested by special task force on anti pipeline vandalism unit,including a 65 year old man salami amodu who thought the petrol was holy water.The other people arrested  were bruce ekonen,joseph ofoeyeno,francis ode and kola ifatoye with about 100 gallons of PMS alleged to have been vandalized from Nigerian National Petroleum  Corporation ,NNPC pipe line at idimagboro in sagamu area of ogun state.The 65 year old baba claimed he was on his way back home when one alfa stopped him,promised to pay him N5,000 per trip if he can help him carry 10 gallons of liquid.he thought it was holy water so he didnt bother to ask since it 's a good business.it was while he was carrying the gallons that he percieved the odour of fuel.he was very angry at the alfa and wanted to off load the vehicle but realize that they were almost close to their destination  thats when he decided to continue.all the suspects will be arraigned in court at the end of all investigations.
