 ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTED PRODUCERS OF ADULTERATED ALCOHOLIC DRINKS, RECOVERS COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS AND CHEMICALS Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the Rapid Response Squad/VCRU have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the production and distribution of adulterated alcoholic beverages in the State. The suspects, identified as Ikechukwu Okeke 42 years old and Okeke Chukwuemeka 38 years old were arrested in the early hours of today 15th June 2026,  following credible intelligence received by the Police. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of a syndicate specializing in the adulteration and counterfeiting of various alcoholic beverages. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and subsequently led operatives to their mini-factory. At the facility, Police operatives recovered several suspected adulterated alcoholic products, including Seaman’s Schnapps, McDowell’s, Eagle Schnapps, ...

Students of a public school in Lagos: 2013 WASCE results discouraging                                             A discouraging result for the November/December 2013,West African Senior School Certificate Examination.has been released by West African Examination Council {WAEC}.The WAEC head of National office,Mr Charlse Eguridu said that there was worrisome decline in candidates performance in the examination when compared with stdents performance in 2011 and 2012.He said this year 2013,we have a total of 86,612 candidates representing 29.17 percent obtaining credits in five subjects and above,including English language and Mathematics.In 2012,a total of 150,615 candidates representing 37.97 percent obtained credits in five subjects and above ,including English language and Mathematics.In 2011,a total of 139,827 candidates representing 36.07 percent also obtained credits in five subjects and above including English language and Mathematics.He said ,308,217 candidates that registered and sat for the 2013 examination,299,784 had their results fully released while 38,266 had their result with held in connection with examination malpratice.82 blind candidates registered and sat for the examination,17 candidates obtained credits in five subjects including English language.He said blind candidates do not take mathematics and science practical in the WASSCE.He attributed the poor perfomance of candidates during major examinations to wrong values,lack of role models,poor incentive for teachers as well as lack of qualified teachers,among other challenges.He announced that the council will deploy cutting edge technology in the conduct of it's examinations as from May/June,2014 WASSCE.The council would use Radio frequency identification smart cards,use for easy and accurate identification.There would be automated attendance registers,instant and accurate identification,instant malpractice reporting and effective post examination management.Eguridu also noted the biometic technology in the registration of candidates,while data caturing was the basis of identifying candidates and taking attendance,the field indicated a drastic reduction in impersonation of candidates.
