NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges. A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters and two H-125 helicopters. The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. There is a fresh clash between the Boko Haram insurgents and the Nigerian military and that have displaced thousands,making them flee across the Nigerian border with Cameoon and entered Niger.The refugees said their villagers were bombed,that several people had been killed and that at least two villages were burnt to the ground.The clash,raises the number of Nigerian refugees in Cameroon to be more than 12,400 just over 2,000 of whom have been moved to camps deeper inside the country.Those who fled include 8,000 Nigerians and 30,000 Niger nationals who had been living in Nigeria.The latest refugees there told UN aid workers that they had fled a village after its mosque was attacked,seven peple were killed and 6 shops burnt.
