US-China trade talks begin in Paris, setting stage for Trump-Xi summit U.S. and Chinese officials began high-level trade talks in Paris on Sunday, setting the stage for President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to Beijing to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping in about two weeks. The delegations are led by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng. While the White House has announced Trump’s visit for March 31 to April 2, Beijing has not yet confirmed the dates. Bessent emphasized that the U.S. team aims to secure outcomes that prioritize American farmers, workers, and businesses. Over the two-day talks, the delegations will focus on trade and economic issues of mutual concern. Trump’s visit will be his first to China since his first term in 2017 and follows a one-year truce in the U.S.-China trade war agreed upon last year in Busan, South Korea. Prof Dora Akunyili,the former minister of information and communication was rumoured to be suffering from an illness.Some press people knowing that Dora Akunyili is a delegate at the National conference,which is going in Abuja,was asking about her state of health.Dora replied saying,''Thank you for enquiry,there is a saying in Igboland that goes this way''Let the sickness take the flesh but leave the bones because with time the bones would grow new flesh''.I just came out of a major sickness for which i thank almighty God for delivering me.I know that God did thar for a purpose,this National Conference being part of that purpose.I am well now but only need time to put on more weight.However,i am strong enough for this conference and i look forward to collaborating with other delegates to chart the way for a better Nigeria.Thank you''.
