 Kano State Approves N1.5 Billion for Mass Wedding of 3,000 Couples The Kano State Government has earmarked N1.5 billion for a forthcoming mass wedding programme targeting 3,000 beneficiaries, officials announced on Monday. Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Ibrahim Daurawa, disclosed the funding while briefing journalists on preparations for the event.  “The Kano State Government is to spend N1.5bn on the entire mass wedding programme which will soon be conducted in the state,” Daurawa said. According to him, the allocation will cover furniture, food items, dowry, clothing materials for the couples, and a N100,000 capital grant to each bride, among other expenses. The Hisbah Board, in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health, has already commenced mandatory medical screening for prospective couples to determine their health status. The screenings include tests for hepatitis, pregnancy, HIV, genotype, and other sexually transmitted diseases. Dauraw...

ARINZE KINGSLEY,BLINDS MRS AMAKAS ONE EYE,OVER SEX.

•Mrs Amaka Ohanwe whose eye was damaged            Mrs Amaka Ohanwe,is blinded on one eye by 35 year old Mr Arinze Kingsley because she refused to sleep with him.She was attacked by him at Pen cresent Apapa,Lagos where she went to have her hair done.She is married and a mother of two,still Arinze waited patiently outside the salon.When she came out of the salon,Arinze started abusing her immediately i replied him,he just hit my eye and threw me on the floor.He started hitting his head on my eyes untill i started bleeding.It was the neighbours who came to her rescue and took her to the hospital,while Kingsley immediately started his motorcycle and rode off after attacking her.She alleged that after the attack,Kingsley boasted that nothing would happen to him because he has money to bail himself out of any difficult situation.Amaka reported the matter to the police,but alleged that she was asked to collect N30,000 for her eyes operation in order to settle the matter out of court.Kingsley was arraigned before an Apapa magistrate court where the bail of N50,000 with two sureties was granted.The matter was adjourned till 24th of march 2014.There is a possibility Amaka might not see with that eye again,said her doctor after series of operations.Now she is calling on the government to her.
