 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. INTERNET DATING MURDERERS,STRIKES AGAIN.

             According to a national paper,a member of a five man gang of kidnappers,including a lady,lure men through a popular online dating website known as Badoo to a lonely spot where they are attacked and robbed of their valuables while the unfortunate one will be strangled.The suspects are Michael Eneji,his brother Emmanuel Eneji,Chukwu Chibueze,Gift Princess and Lekia Emmaden Isaac,were apprehended by the Rivers State police command days after the family of one of their latest victim Shola Olaseinde was reported missing by his family.He was later found in a decomposing state in a bush,close to a deserted pipeline area at Eleme,Port Harcourt,River state.Few meters away,was also the decomposed body of another victim,who was later identified as Mr Progress Benin Disi,a staff of Shell Oil serving company whose family had also reported missing since,March 7,2014.At the police station,the leader of the gang,27 year old Michael Eneji a footballer confessed to the crime and said that his gang didn't know that the late Shola Olaseinde would not be able to escape from the forest after dispossessing him of his valuables.
