Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside. Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area. Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. The full circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, and authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement. According to sources,the Environmental Protection Agency {LASEPA}said with the effect from 17 August 2014,anybody caught smoking in public places in Lagos state will be arrested and prosecuted.LASEPA will hold a stakeholder's meeting tomorrow May 13 to sensitise people in compliance with the law which banned smoking in all public places in the state.The General manager of LASEPA,Engr Rasheed Shabi said ''When the smoking bill was signed into law by Governor Babatunde Fashola on 17th February 2014,six months grace was given to enable proper sensitization to be carried out before enforcement.With the passage of the law,smokers have been banned from smoking in places such as hospital,eateries,hotels,schools,creche,restaurants,bars,school buses,event centres and book shops.We have engaged hoteliers and told them to creat a place where smokers can smoke,but they can't smoke in public places.
