Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller  accuses its officers of harassment The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.  The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday. The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,  The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search. GOODLUCK SEEKS TO EXTEND EMERGENCY LAW IN 3 STATES.

         Today tuesday,President Goodluck Jonathan asked the parliament for a six month extension of a state of emergency in three northen eastern states due to persistent attacks by boko haram.A state of emergency was declared in Adamawa,Borno and Yobe states in May last year and extended in November.President Goodluck Jonathan says ''The security situation in the three states remains daunting albeit to varying degress,in the face of persistent attacks by members of the boko haram sects on civilian and military targets with alarming casualty rates''.
