NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges. A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters and two H-125 helicopters. The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. 34 year old Mr Saliu,a LASTMA {Lagos State Transport Management Authority},has been dismissed and arraigned before a Lagos court for allegedly receiving N1,000 bribe from a motorist.In the Magistrate court,he was charged with conspiracy,impersonation and extorting money from motorists.He was sacked after several reports of his illegal collection of bribes from motorists.He was sacked after several reports of his illegal collection of bribes from motorists.After he was sacked,Matiu continued extorting money from motorists illegally.It was the case of a motorist Muritala Hakeem that exposed him after he collected N1,000 from him for committing an undisclosed traffic offence.He was arrested while wearing the LASTMA uniform.His matter was adjourned to July 16 2014.He is still in Kirikiri prison because he could not meet up with his N100,000 bail.
