 Denise Richards claims she was 'scared to leave' ex Aaron Phypers in emotional interview: 'It's survival' Denise Richards has spoken openly about the difficulties she faced in her marriage to actor Aaron Phypers, describing the relationship as abusive. On the Dumb Blonde Podcast, she admitted that fear kept her from leaving, saying she felt “scared to leave” and eventually became “so beaten down” that the abuse felt normal.  Richards explained that Phypers changed dramatically after they married, leaving her feeling “conned” and trapped in a situation she never imagined herself in.
