 U.N chief Guterres calls for countries fueling Sudan's war to be held accountable United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Wednesday for countries providing weapons to the warring parties in Sudan that are used to attack civilians to be held accountable. "What is happening in Sudan is absolutely horrible. The humanitarian situation in Sudan is devastating. The level of suffering of the Sudanese people is intolerable," Guterres told reporters ahead of the annual gathering of world leaders at the United Nations in New York next week. Sudan's war, which erupted in April 2023 following a power struggle between the military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, has displaced more than 14 million people and created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. 116 PEOPLE FLYING AIR ALGERIE FROM BURKINA FASO,MAY HAVE CRASHED.

REUTERS/Xavier Larrosa           According to Algeria ASP state news and a Spanish Airline company Swiftair said today thursday that authorities have lost contact with an Air Algeria flight en route from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algerie with 116 passengers on board.Flight AH 5017 lost contact after it took off and there is now confusion about the fate of the flight and where it might be.The company Swiftair posted on it's website that the aircraft took off from Burkina Faso at 0117 GMT {2117ET} and was supposed to land in Algerie at 0510 GMT but never reached it's destination.The rate at which planes are disappearing and crashing is becoming alarming.
