 Zambia president approves law expanding parliament months before election Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema on Thursday signed into law constitutional changes that will expand the country's parliament, Reuters reported. The changes increase the number of members of parliament to around 280 from 167 currently by creating more constituencies, reserving 40 new seats for women, youth and people with disabilities, and allowing the president to appoint 11 members instead of eight previously. Hichilema, who will run for a second presidential term in the August 2026 election, said during a signing ceremony that the changes were being made in good faith and there was adequate consultation. He previously argued that some constituencies were too big for effective service delivery and should be split into smaller ones. ARMED MUSLIMS ATTACKED A CHURCH AT CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC.

              According to the Catholic church officials,they said Rebels fighters and armed Muslim civilians killed many people in an attavk on a church compound in Central African Republic on monday where thousands of civilians had taken refuge.The attack came just a day before French Defence Minister Jean Yves Le Drain was due to visit the town,where a grenade attack injured Seven French soldiers last week.Church official said fighters from the Seleka rebels movement and armed muslism civilians from the town community entered St Joseph's cathedral aroud 3pm.Rev Jesus Martial Dembele,Vicar general for the archdiocese of Bangui said ''We don't have the exact death toll yet but many people have been killed.Ad i'm speaking to you,they are still there''.
