 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023. A SECURITY MAN ARRESTED & CHARGED TO COURT FOR NOT CATCHING ARMED ROBBERS.

                  28 year old Mohammed Nura was employed as a security man recently at 5,Egbe road in Ejigbo area of Lagos.Days after he was employed,armed men invaded the area at night and over powered him.The robbers broke into a boutique and stole items worth N500,000.The owner of the shop,Steve Olumese went to the police and reported that his shop was burgled by the unidentified armed men.He also told the police that the residents just employed the security man Nura.The police then arrested the security man and charged him to court with negligence to perform his duty by not preventing armed robbery attack in the area.The security man told the police that he was unable to stop the men who over powered him.He also explained that he had no weapon to confront them.He was taking to Kirikiri prison pending when he meets up with his bail of N50,000 set by the presiding Magistrate in Ejigbo.The matter was adjourned to October 15,2014.In these case,who is to provide the security guard with weapons,the employer or the employee.
