 NSCDC Deploys 4,000 Personnel in FCT for Yuletide Security The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command has assured residents of robust security throughout the Christmas and New Year festivities. Commandant Olusola Odumosu announced that 4,000 personnel have been deployed across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its surrounding areas to ensure public safety and protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure. The personnel, drawn from various specialized units including the Special Intervention Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, Arm Squad, Agro Rangers, and others, will work to maintain peace and order during the festive season. In a statement issued on Thursday, signed by command spokesperson Monica Ojobi, Odumosu called for strict adherence to the operation order and emphasized the importance of securing key locations such as infrastructure, worship centers, markets, and recreational areas. A MUSLIM WOMAN WEARING A VEIL,WAS THROWN OUT OF PARIS OPERA FOR REFUSING TO REMOVE HER VEIL

A woman was thrown out of a French opera house after cast members objected to her wearing a Niqab (file picture is not of the woman involved)                                                           According to France's socialist government today pledged to toughen up its anti face covering law after a veiled Muslim woman was ejected from a major Opera house Bastille .Her ejection from the opera house has divided opinion in the city's liberal arts community,in which cast members performing La Traviata openly objected to the presence of a woman in the audience wearing a niqab type veil.The Director of the Bastille Opera house said ''A singer spotted her in the frount row during the second act.Some performers said they didn't want to sing and she was later kicked out''.There has been a ban on muslims covering their face in public in France since the introduction of the law in 2011.The Muslim woman was from a Gulf state and she attended the performance with a friend.This is the first incident of someone being ejected from an artistic venue,because of her muslim veil.The security guard Mr Thiellay said ''I told her that in France there is a ban of this nature,then i told her to either uncover her face or leave the auditorium.I asked the woman to get up,and they left.It was unpleasant getting her to leave,but there was a misunderstanding of the law and lady either had to respect it or leave''.Na wahoooo.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
