 A 28-year-old man allegedly set his girlfriend’s house on fire after she refused his marriage proposal in Anandpur village, Bhadrak district, Odisha. The accused, Jyoti Ranjan Das, a resident of Vidyadharpur village, has been on the run since the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, police said on Wednesday. According to the victim, Jyoti had been pressuring her to marry him and even threatened to leak private photos if she did not agree. She also accused him of issuing death threats and attempting to force her into meeting him multiple times. When she refused his advances, Jyoti allegedly resorted to arson, setting her house on fire. The blaze destroyed five sheds and reduced valuables worth Rs 15 lakh, including gold jewellery, furniture, food grains, and important documents, to ashes.                 Today monday the World Health Organisation declared Nigeria free of the deadly Ebola virus after six weeks with no new cases.W.H.O,Representative Rui Gama Vaz said in a conference today in Abuja that ''This is a spectacular success story .It shows that Eola can be contained but we must be clear that we have only won a battle,the war will only end when West Africa is also declared free of Ebola.When he made the announcement,officials present broke into applause.More pictures below.                                                                                                                                 THE HERO                                                                                                                                THE DEVIL.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
