 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. OYO STATE COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH,CONFIRMS LASSA FEVER OUTBREAK IN THEIR STATE.

                       According to Oyo state Commissioner for Health Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin,has confirmed the out break of Lassa fever in their state but he is assuring their citizen that the government is on top of the situation as well as curtailing it.For now the government of Oyo state is only aware of 10 cases and out of the 10 cases,three were brought into the state from another state.He said ''We are already working to bring it under control.We are doing the best to curtail it.We have what it takes to manage it very well.I only want to appeal to our people to be very hygienic and when they feel that something is wrong with our system,we should go to the hospital for proper diagnosis of their sickness and treatment.Most of this black rats in our houses don't have this virus.Most of the rats with this virus are from the bush.There are farmers who in the process of making cassava flour will cut their cassava and spread them on the road.When these rats see this cassava they go there to eat from them and in the process,they pee on them and through that they transfer the virus on the cassava.Anybody that eats out of the cassava flour made from such cassava might have the fever''.More photos below.
