CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court. PRISONERS FROM KIRIKIRI MEDIUM PRISON ATTEMPTED TO ESCAPE YESTERDAY.

              According to sources,they were planning to escape the prison yesterday friday following a protest by inmates over the isolation of one of them.The isolated inmate who leads a christian programme within the prisons had bought a microphone and a fan from his funds kept with the prison officials but the Deputy Prison Controller Kayode Adeyemi,was said to have disapproved the purchase and ordered that the prisoner be locked up in isolation as punishment.This made the inmate to start throwing stones and pebbles at the warders.The Deputy Prison controller then ordered the prison police unit to shoot at sight.This led to shots being fired at the mob of inmates.Checkout the conditions of the prisoners below.
