 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. HIV/AIDS PATIENTS,PROTESTED IN ABUJA FOR LACK OF ANTI-RETROVIRAL DRUGS.

                           Today monday,hundreds of HIV/AIDS positive patients stormed the Abuja office of the National Agency for Control of Aids {NACA},protested over lack of access to anti-retroviral drugs in hospitals and other care centres across the country.The protesters under the Network of people living with HIV/AIDS also protested over diminishing funding for HIV/AIDS programmes by international development partners as well as non-implementation of comprehensive response plan,a scheme launched by president Goodluck Jonathan to address the problems of access to anti-retroviral drugs.The protesters took the staff of NACA unawares as they had invade the NACA office before the official resumption hours early this morning.The protesters were armed with placards and some sleeping materials,indicating that they were determined to stay in the NACA office as long as necessary.The protesters took over the main entrance of the office of Professor John Doko,the Director General of NACA,there by stopping him and other workers from entering their offices.One more photo below.
