WOMEN,WHERE DO YOU SHOP,SMALL OR BIG BOUTIQUES?.

Yesterday thursday,i took out my time to visit some boutiques in Ikeja Lagos, and i noticed most of the big boutiques are giving out discounts when you buy any goods from their boutique.I entered the first big boutique and i noticed they had few customers in their boutique so i asked her, what is sales like?,and she said is not easy because they have a thousand and one boutique in these Ikeja and ladies already have their own customers.I asked her,how does your clients react when you tell them a pair of trouser or jean is sold for N20,000,because as i can see, most your customers are pretending to be window shopping when they hear the prices of the cloths, but their initial intention was to buy?..She replied that the challenge they are facing is exactly the question i just asked. She said most of the cloths are designer wears from America.I asked her, most of the cloths from America, where do they produce them from?,and she said China.Driving out from her complex,i noticed in one street close to the big boutique,a small shop arranged like a boutique and i saw ladies, strolling in and out from these small boutique and the ladies do come out with nylon bags showing they bought something from the small boutique.I entered the shop and i discovered the small boutique was owned by one Mrs Ngozi James.I asked her how long she have been running these boutique?,and she said for nine years now.I asked where do you get your cloths from?and she said they import their cloths from China.I asked her these christmas, what kind of clothing do ladies buy from you? and She said what is in vogue for christmas is long gown and jean trousers because there is a lot activities these season like e.g dinners and beach parties.I asked her, these your cloths are they second hand {okirika} and she no,that all their cloths are new,and the labels are still on the cloths. But what i noticed from both boutiques is that, they sell almost the same thing and the small boutique sells her own cloths 50% less than the big boutique that claimed to be giving out discount to their customers.I asked Ngozi James, the challenges she is facing in these cloth business and she said ''Some big ladies in the society, don't like patronizing small boutiques because they feel is not up to their taste or standard, but later when they see their friends wearing the same cloths they bought for N100's of thousand for N5-10 thousand naira they will begin to regret.Others don't want their friends to see them shopping here,so they may stay in their cars to buy or i bring the cloths to their houses or offices.I went into the business of cloths nine years ago because i love fashion and there is money in the business. These season of christmas, the exchange rate for import has gone up so cloths will be a little expensive now,it will affect the price like just two to one thousand over the normal price''.More photos below.
