 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.                          The Islamic terrorist group ISIS,is in Nigeria and they are planning to recruit Nigerians to help them fight in the middle east.Mr Mike Omeri,The National Orientation Agency,Director General and Coordinator,National Information Center,has issued an official statement warning Nigerians that the Islamic state of Iraq and Syria {ISIS} is in the country to recruit fighters that will be sent to the middle east .They made these statement based on the findings of the Nigerian intelligence agency.Mike Omeri indicated that three South Africans were among fighters recruited by ISIS agents operating in the guise of humanitarian support groups for refugees and orphans.''Nigerians are known in the world over to be selfless,hospitable and humanitarian.We believe in the brotherhood of all mankind and no one should be allowed to take advantage of these virtues or turn them into vices.Nigerians are therefore advised to report to security agencies without hesitation,any group or non governmental agency whose overt or covert activities are suspicious or have tendencies to jeopardise the innocence of our youths and the security of our people where ever they are in the world''.
