 DG NEMA Takes Disaster Risk Reduction Awareness To Primary School Pupils in Abuja The Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has visited LEA Primary School, Durumi, Abuja where she engaged pupils in an interactive session on disaster prevention and safety awareness. The visit which formed part of NEMA’s ongoing efforts to promote disaster risk reduction education among young Nigerians and build a culture of safety from an early age. A statement by Manzo Ezekiel, Head, Press Unit indicates that while addressing the pupils, Mrs. Zubaida Umar emphasized the importance of basic safety habits and simple disaster mitigation measures that children can adopt both at home and in school. She taught the pupils practical steps to reduce risks associated with common emergencies such as fire outbreaks, flooding, and unsafe play environments.  The Director General encouraged them to be safety conscious, remain alert to potential dangers in their surroundings, and promptly report hazar...

PRESIDENT JONATHAN SAID NIGERIA ECONOMY IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST,TRUE OR FALSE?.

                           Today tuesday,President Goodluck Jonathan made this statement in Port Harcourt at the inauguration of Enugu Port Harcourt Enugu intercity train service that ''We have mangeged the economy in Africa and one of the largest in the world.We have changed the course of history with the railway system in the last 30 years from the neglected sector to a rehabilitated and revitalised one by rehabilitating the existing narrow gauge railway lines,the operations and maintenance.We have introduced programmes that have impacted positively on the lives of the people and national agenda''.Adeseyi Sijuwade,Managing Director of Nigerian Railway Corporation {NRC},noted that the rehabilitation of Enugu Port Harcourt Railway had many challenges.30 metres of the rail line was washed out by Aba gully erosion.He further explained that five metres wide reinforced concrete culvert of more than 366 metres long resolved the problem.The Aba mountain of refuse which is about five metres high was part of the challenges while a section of the track was buried.One more photo below.
