 SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS PRESIDENT'S POWER TO DECLARE EMERGENCY RULE The  supreme court has affirmed the president's constitutional authority to declare a state of emergency in a state threatened by breakdown of law and order, including the power to temporarily suspend elected officials as an extraordinary measure to restore stability. The seven-man panel of justices of the apex court gave the order in a 6 to 1 split decision on a suit filed by Adamawa state and 10 others challenging president Bola Tinubu's march 18, 2025 declaration of emergency rule in Rivers state.  The declaration had led to the six-month suspension of the state's governor, deputy governor, and members of the house of assembly amid prolonged political crisis and security concerns. THE NIGERIAN CUSTOM PICKUP VAN,KILLED 3 LADIES AND INJURED OTHERS IN AN ACCIDENT ALONG LAGOS-BENIN HIGHWAY.

               According to sources who were at the scene of the crime said three ladies between the ages of 25 and 30 years died yesterday afternoon after the Hummer bus they were travelling in was knocked off the Lagos-Benin high way by an operational vehicle driven by operatives of the Nigerian Customs service.The ladies and the driver of the Hummer bus were carrying second hand clothes also known as okirika,summersaulted during a hot chase by customs officials from the Federal Operations Unit,Zone A,Ikeja from one of their checkpoints in Ijebu Ode.The driver of the bus allegedly refused to stop when flagged down at their checkpoint which resulted in the Hummer summersaulting.The driver of the Hummer bus who lost one of his leg in the accident,said ''When the customs pick-up van could not overtake him,it hit his bus at the rear which caused the vehicle to summersault several times into the bush at a place indigenes called J3.On sensing that the bus had crashed into the bush,the customs officials beat a hasty retreat to avoid being attacked by members of the public that immediately rushed to the scene of the accident.Three women in the bus died on the spot and the other injured victims,were brought out of the bus and were in deep pains''.The pictures of the ladies that died is seen below and above.More photos below.                                  â€¢One of the victims knocked down by customs•Another woman who died in the accident
