A SEPTUAGENARIAN COUPLE ENDED THEIR 44-YEAR MARRIAGE FOLLOWING AN 18-YEAR LEGAL DISPUTE IN INDIA. (PHOTO).

 A septuagenarian couple from Haryana’s Karnal district officially ended their 44-year marriage following an 18-year legal dispute. The Punjab and Haryana High Court’s mediation and conciliation centre facilitated the resolution, which involved a significant settlement of Rs 3.07 crore in permanent alimony. The husband, determined to part ways, sold portions of his prime agricultural land to fulfill the agreement. The couple, married on August 27, 1980, under Hindu rites, had three children—two daughters and one son. Due to growing temperamental differences, they began living separately on May 8, 2006. The husband filed for divorce in the Karnal family court on grounds of mental cruelty, but his plea was rejected in January 2013. He later appealed to the high court, where the case remained unresolved for nearly 11 years before being referred to mediation on November 4, 2024. A WIDOW AND HER 2 CHILDREN,WAS ARRESTED YESTERDAY FOR HIDING THEIR FATHER'S CORPSE IN THEIR HOUSE FOR 3 YEARS,IN LAGOS.

            All hell broke loose when police discovers the corpse of one Mr Jimoh Olatunji Shittu,at 14b,Olaitan Mustaph,off Clem road,Ifako-Ijaiye,Ojokoro area of Lagos state.He died since 2012 and his 60 year old wife Mrs Joy Olatunji Shittu and her two children Aishat and Toyin,embalmed him and kept his corpse in their house in Lagos.One of their neighbours claimed that since 2012 when the man died,four of his children have also died in a suspicious circumstance,only the two arrested with her that are living.According to the widow Joy,she said her husband was sick for eight years before he died.When they traveled with his corpse to his mother's home town in Delta state to bury him on his land he bought there,they discovered that the land had been sold to another person who prevented them from burying him there.They had to bring the corpse back to Lagos.She refused burying her husband in the four flat compound they are living here in Lagos because it would expose his death to his family members,since she is not in good terms with her husband's family.Police arrested the widow joy and her two children on yesterday  tuesday after a tip off.The police retrieved the corpse and deposited it at a mortuary for autopsy.The matter was immediately transferred to SCID,Panti.
