 Rebels to withdraw from key DR Congo town 'after US request' The M23 rebel group has said it would withdraw from the eastern DR Congo town of Uvira at the request of the US administration, which had criticised seizure of the town last week as a threat to mediation efforts. The rebels entered Uvira, on the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met with US President Donald Trump in Washington and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept." A report by a United Nations group of experts in July said Rwanda exercised command and control over the rebels. 7 DOCTORS IN EKITI STATE,RECEIVED THREATS OF KIDNAP YESTERDAY.

                                                                                  Yeterday tuesday,seven doctors in Ekiti state chapter of Nigerian Medical Association {NMA} have received threats of kidnap from unknown gunmen.This is coming barely one week after the former Chief Medical Director of Ekiti state University Teaching Hospital,Dr Patrick Adegun and a nurse with the Federal Teaching Hospital,in Ido Ekiti,Mrs Margaret Aladenika,were kidnapped.Adegun was kidnapped along side his wife Kikelomo,a few metres to the gate  of their house located on Goshen Avenue,Federal Housing in Ado Ekiti metropolis.The chairman of NMA in Ekiti state,Dr John Akinbote,told news men in Ado Ekiti that the seven doctors received text messages from kidnappers saying they could be picked up anytime.Members of the Academy staff union of universities,Akure zone,had also called for overhauling of the security chiefs in the state.They hinged the call on poor professional handling of the kidnap of a member of the association,Dr Femi Omisore of the Oafemi Awolowo university in Ekiti state last week.Omisore was kidnapped on May 6,while his driver Saheed was shot in the head and his vehicle set ablaze for stressing the captors while being chased.NMA and ASUU said yesterday tuesday that the police and the state security service had not been handling the matter in most professional way.Zonal Cordinator of ASUU Akure,Dr Alex Odiyia,appealed to Governor Ayodele Fayose to get rid of hoodlums in the state.
