 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

NIGERIAN FEMALE FOOTBALLER ASISAT OSHOALA,WAS NAMED BBC WOMEN'S FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR.

Asisat Oshoala: wins BBC Women's Footballer of the Year (2015)               20 year old Asisat Oshoala,is the first player to win the new award from the BBC world service,voted for by football fans around the world.She beat Spains Veronica Boquete,German Nadine Kessier,Scot Kim Little and Brazilian Marta to the honour.The award is the first of its kind hosted by a global broad caster.Asisat Oshoala,who was the youngest player to be short listed,was the leading scorer at the under 20's world cup in Canada last summer and was voted the tournament's best player.Her performances led Nigeria to the final,where they were narrowly beaten by Germany,and she was also a major influence in the senior Nigeria team who won the African women's championship in October.That ensured their qualification for this summer's world cup in Canada,which begins on 6 June with full coverage on the BBC.Asisat Oshoala,after receiving the award said ''I would like to thank you to the BBC,to my fans around the world and everyone who voted''.
