 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. APC DESCRIBES SARAKI'S APPOINTMENT AS TREACHERY..

                    The All Progressive Congress {APC} has described the appointment as totally unacceptable and the highest level of indiscipline and treachery,the conduct of today tuesday's inauguration of the National Assembly that led to the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representative respectively.In a statement issued in Abuja today tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary,Alhaji Lai Mohammed said ''The party is supreme and its interest is suprerior to that of it's individual members.Consequently,the APC leadership is meeting in a bid to re-establish discipline in the party and to meet out the necessary sanctions to all those involved in what is nothing but a monumental act of indiscipline and betrayal to subject the party to ridicle and create obstacle's for the new administration.There cam be no higher level of treachery,disloyalty and insincerity within any party''.Meanwhile,the APC has asked all its loyal senators elect to please report to the senate to be Sworn in,in order to discharge their constitutional duties.
