 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.                          Today June 12,i remembered very well in 1993,then i was still in primary school,how Lagos was in chaos and all my fellow Igbo brothers and sisters were running back home after M.K.O Abiola's presidential win was annulled by General Ibrahim Babangida.So now,Lagos state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode,Prof Akin Oyebode and other activists have challenged President Muhammadu Buhari,to declare June 12 as Democracy Day in the country to immortalise the acclaimed winner of the June 12,1993 Presidential election the late Chief Moshood Kashimao Olawale Abiola.Abode and other activist made these statement today friday at the June 12 rally at the Lagos Television Ground,Ikeja in Lagos.''The June 12 should be declared Democracy Day in Nigeria to honour Abiola.The hope of the people was dashed when the June 12 election was annulled by General Ibrahim Babangida,and what the nation now enjoyed today was rooted in June 12.June 12 personifies our desire to liberate ourselves and take care of our destiny.June 12 symbolises the patriotism of all Nigerians as the election fired up hope in the mind of the people.Lagos has continued to be the hub of Decratic ideas and we will continue to expand the frontiers of democratic governance and freedom of our people.June 12 should be declared the real democracy day''.
