 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. MUDASHIRU OBASA,ELECTED TODAY AS LAGOS STATE SPEAKER.

Obasa: Elected as Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly                   Accordig to sources,fourth term member of the Lagos stste House of Assembly and representative of Agege constituency 1,Mudashiru Obas,was today monday elected as the Speaker for the eight session of the state Assembly.His election confirmed an earlier report last week that Obasa had been endorsed for the position at a meeting of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress,APC and members elect of the House.Obasa was proposed as the Speaker by one of his major contenders,Moshood Oshun,representing Lagos Mainland Constituency 2.Moshood Oshun motion was seconded by Sola Giwa,a fresh law maker for the Lagos Island Constituency 2.Obasa accepted the nomination at exactly 11:15am today monday.Wasiu Eshilokun Sanni was nominated and approved for the position of Deputy Speaker of the House by another Lawmaker,Gbolahan Yishawu,representing Et-Osa Constituency 2.Minutes before the election of principal officers,the House was inaugurated by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode,who said he was doing as required of him by the Nigerian constitution.In a short address to inaugurate the House,Ambode congratulated the members on their election and charged them to be good ambassadors of their various constituencies.
