 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

FREE REGISTRATION FOR MOTORCYCLE,TRICYCLE ETC TO COMMENCE 1ST OF AUGUST IN ANAMBRA STATE.

                  From the 1st of August,the Anambra state Government will commence free registration and issuance of identity cards for all commercial and private motorcycles and vehicles as well as boats and canoes operating in the state.In a statement issued by Dr {Mrs} Uju Nwogu,Hon.Commissioner for Information,Culture and Tourism,the state government will also commence the free distribution of branded bibs or vests to all motorcycle riders and life jackets to all commuters using boats and canoes as means of transport in the riverine communities of the state.Venue for the registration is headquarters of 21 local government areas of the state..''Government wishes to use the opportunity of this announcement to inform the public particularly commercial and private motorcycle operators that the order on compulsory use of crash helmet is still in force.The use of life jackets and vests is also compulsory for all commuters using canoes and boats as means of transport .Government also by this announcement,advises mothers traveling with their children to avoid using motorcycles but to enter tricycles,.taxis or buses to ensure their safety.Violators of these directives would have themselves to blame as law enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure strict compliance''.
