 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. FREE REGISTRATION FOR MOTORCYCLE,TRICYCLE ETC TO COMMENCE 1ST OF AUGUST IN ANAMBRA STATE.

                  From the 1st of August,the Anambra state Government will commence free registration and issuance of identity cards for all commercial and private motorcycles and vehicles as well as boats and canoes operating in the state.In a statement issued by Dr {Mrs} Uju Nwogu,Hon.Commissioner for Information,Culture and Tourism,the state government will also commence the free distribution of branded bibs or vests to all motorcycle riders and life jackets to all commuters using boats and canoes as means of transport in the riverine communities of the state.Venue for the registration is headquarters of 21 local government areas of the state..''Government wishes to use the opportunity of this announcement to inform the public particularly commercial and private motorcycle operators that the order on compulsory use of crash helmet is still in force.The use of life jackets and vests is also compulsory for all commuters using canoes and boats as means of transport .Government also by this announcement,advises mothers traveling with their children to avoid using motorcycles but to enter tricycles,.taxis or buses to ensure their safety.Violators of these directives would have themselves to blame as law enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure strict compliance''.
