 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. GEORGE CLOONEY,LAUNCHED AN INITIATIVE YESTERDAY,THAT WILL HELP TRACE SPONSORS OF WARS IN AFRICA.

               Yesterday monday,54 year old Hollywood actor George Clooney,launched an initiative to track down and help bring to justice those funding and profiting from Africa' deadliest conflicts,in a bid to fight corruption in war zones.George Clooney joined forces with US human rights activist John Prendergast in a project called The Sentry that aims to investigate the flow of money in and out of conflict zones and give policy makers the tools to take effective action.Using data collection,field research and analysis technology,the initiative plans to expose how conflict is financed and profits laundered,with a website that encourages people to anonymously submit leaks and tips. George Clooney said the aim is to ''Deny war profiteers the proceeds from their crimes.Real leverage for peace and human rights will come when the people who benefit from war will pay a price for the damage they cause''
