NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. One person was confirmed dead today as a fatal accident involving a 50 seater mass transit-bus belonging to Edo state government popularly called comrade bus.The victim is identified as a man but his name and where he is from,has not been disclosed.The accident occurred around 12:30pm today friday afternoon in Ekae community,located along Sapele road,in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.According to other sources,the victim and a woman,who was believed to be his wife,were waiting along the busy highway to board a vehicle to Warri,Delta state when the bus veered off the road and knocked him down,severing his head in the process.The woman was said to have narrowly escaped being hit by the vehicle,while some of the passengers on the vehicle were said to have sustained varying degrees of injury.''It looks like the brake failed because of the way the bus just hit the man and removed his head.The man died instantly but the woman was lucky to jump and escape''.His body was deposited at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital.
