 ABIA RECORDS NIGERIA’S FIRST PAROLE RELEASE UNDER CORRECTIONAL SERVICE ACT Abia State has recorded Nigeria’s first parole release under the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, 2019, with ten inmates released under the programme. In a statement, the Service Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Jane Osuji, says the development marks the first practical implementation of the parole provisions of the Act. Representing the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, at the event in Umuahia, Assistant Controller-General of Corrections, Ngozi Okeke, describes the initiative as a major step in correctional reforms aimed at rehabilitation, reintegration, and custodial decongestion. The statement notes that the parolees were drawn from custodial centres in Aba, Umuahia, and Arochukwu, and received vocational tools and other reintegration support to aid their return to society. I AM ALIVE-ABUBAKAR SHEKAU.

                       Yesterday sunday,a audio recording emerged on line.The voice was verified by experts to belong to Abubakar Shekau,the leader of the Islamist group Boko Haram.In the audio,Abubakar Shekau,confirmed that he is still alive,just barely a week after Chadian President Idriss Deby claimed Shekau was no longer Boko Haram's leader.The message was released on the social media feed of a Jihadist monitoring site.According to the site intelligence,the message the voice,is authentic,and Nigerian government has so far not confirmed the audio message.The audio message said his still alive and still in-charge of Boko Haram.The message denies claims by Chadian President Idriss Deby that Shekau has been replaced.Some securit experts say the voice resembles Shekau's .But his ongoing absence from Boko Haram videos has fuelled speculation that he might be dead or wounded.He usually appear in videos,so the audio recording is different from his normal tactics.That in itself is sure to fuel more speculation on Shekau's fate.Shekau's absence from Boko Haram videos in recent months has fueled speculation that he might be dead.
