Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside. Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area. Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. The full circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, and authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement. Late yesterday wednesday night,President of Burundi said those in possession of illegal arms in their country,have a month to relinquish them and that authorities will hold to account the few security officials behind cases of killing and torture.He made the statement yesterday after the U.N human rights chief said this week that there had been an alarming upsurge in arrests and killings,with some bodies of victims showing signs of torture.Beyond the period,who ever is caught with arms will be punished.''Even if they are few,we are going to seriously deal with them as criminals''.The president of Burundi said the Judiciary had uncovered cases of security officers caught red handed killing or torturing people while they are supposed to be ensuring peace and security.
