STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA. Today thursday,the Lagos State House of Assembly finally confirmed the 37 cabinet nominees of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the state Executive Council.The confirmation,which took place during plenary,was preceded by the presentation of a report of the 15 man committee,headed by Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni,the Deputy Speaker of the House,set up to screen the nominees.Eshinlokun revealed that all the nominees were invited by the committee and that they all submitted copies of their resumes and certificates.He also said the documents submitted were thoroughly verified by the committee,which sat for one week from monday,5 October to friday,9 October,2015.Speaker of the House,Mudasiru Obasa,asked the Clerk of the House,Mr Segun Abiru,to send a letter to the governor indicating that the nominees had been confirmed by the House.The report was taken after the House embarked on a general screening of the House during which the nominees were simply asked to introduce themselves and explain how they were screened by the committees last week.On the Lagos State official website,pictures of Governor Ambode's condolence visit to late Lekki Free Trade Zone boss Tajudeen Disu was posted.View the pictures below.
