 ABIA RECORDS NIGERIA’S FIRST PAROLE RELEASE UNDER CORRECTIONAL SERVICE ACT Abia State has recorded Nigeria’s first parole release under the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, 2019, with ten inmates released under the programme. In a statement, the Service Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Jane Osuji, says the development marks the first practical implementation of the parole provisions of the Act. Representing the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, at the event in Umuahia, Assistant Controller-General of Corrections, Ngozi Okeke, describes the initiative as a major step in correctional reforms aimed at rehabilitation, reintegration, and custodial decongestion. The statement notes that the parolees were drawn from custodial centres in Aba, Umuahia, and Arochukwu, and received vocational tools and other reintegration support to aid their return to society. THERE WAS A BOMB BLAST IN A NEWLY OPENED MOSQUE TODAY,IN YOLA.

                  Today friday,it was reported that around 2:00pm today,a bomb exploded at a newly opened friday mosque in Jambutu area of Yola in Adamawa state.The suicide bomber detonated shortly after the Imam of the mosque concluded reading the sermon for the Juma'at prayer.Sources claimed it was a young boy who attempted to get into the mosque when the explosive went off.''It's a new friday mosque,this is the first friday prayer to be offered in the mosque.Over 100 people have so far been evacuated to hospital but i can't say how many among them are dead''.The Police spokesman in the state,DSP Othman Abubakar and the Executive Secretary,Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency {ADSEMA},Alhaji Haruna Furo,confirmed the incident and said rescue effort was still going on.They said that the number of casualty was yet to be ascertained.''We are now evacuating those affected to Yola Specialist Hospital and Federal Medical Centre''.One more photo below.
