 BENUE BOOSTS CHILD PROTECTION WITH GRADUATION OF 60 UNICEF-BACKED SOCIAL WORKERS  Benue State has taken a major step toward strengthening child protection and social welfare services with the graduation of 60 Auxiliary Social Workers (ASWs) trained to serve vulnerable children and families at the grassroots. The graduation ceremony, held on Wednesday, marked the successful completion of a programme jointly supported by the Benue State Government, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Benue State Bureau for International Cooperation and Development (BICD). 5 PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED TODAY AT OLODI APAPA,FOR DUPING A WOMAN N210,000.

                   Today friday,five members of a 15 man syndicate,specialising in dollar counterfeiting and defrauding members of the public were arrested by the Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad {RRS}.The suspects who were identified as 32 years old Ade Oladele,33 years old Friday Philip,35 years old Israel Ibeh,30 years old Oyewole Thompson and 31 years old Onyegbuchi Godwin were arrested at Oko Baba Sule,off Wilmer Bridge around Olodi Apapa area of Lagos.The syndicate led by their gang leader,simply identified as ''Toronto'' had defrauded Chioma Anozie of N210,000 under the pretext of supplying her phones and laptops.One of the gang members,Oyewole Thompson,met Anozie at Mile 2 pretending to be a foreigner looking for a marketer to help sell off a huge consignment of mobile phone and laptops.It was there she was directed to bring money to get the consignment.Found with the suspects were several denominations of fake US dollars and four mobile phones.The lady they duped Chioma Anozie said ''They told me to bring money.I paid them N210,000 and thereafter,i was asked to bring three live chickens in place of a newly born child's head,a pack of white handkerchiefs and traditional soap for money money making rituals''.
