 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. 5 SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS,WERE KILLED TODAY IN AJAH BY THE NIGERIAN POLICE.

•Bodies of the suspected robbers and the one caught alive.                   Today wedneday,five suspected armed robbers were killed by the Nigerian police,and another suspected robber was arrested with bullet wounds.A policeman told pressmen that the suspects had engaged policemen from Elemoro Division,Ajah in Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area in a shootout where they were killed. The police source said that the five robbers were killed on the spot and one injured by bullets was arrested..''The police in Elemoro got information that the suspects were operating at Abule Parapo,opposite Awoyaya in Elemoro area of Ajah around 2 a.m.The suspects engaged the police in a shootout as soon as they saw them.Two locally made double barrel shot guns,one cutlass and iron cutter was recovered from them.The gang had been terrorising residents of Ajah,robbing and raping women''.The corpes of the dead robbers and the injured suspects were brought to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters,Ikeja about 12:15 p.m.The operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad {SARS} have taken over the case file from the Divisional Police Officer at Elemoro,SP Sani Limawa for further investigation.
