Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside. Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area. Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. The full circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, and authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement. It was reported today sunday that the governor of Cross River state Ben Ayade has suspended the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Mrs Anne Odey for banning devotion in schools in the state.Mrs Anne Odey had written last week to all private and public schools at primary and secondary levels across the state,suspending morning and afternoon devotions.The directive was said to have emanated from the Commissioner for police in view of security challenges facing the nation.But the security Adviser to Ayade,Jude Ngaji told reporters in Calabar yesterday saturday that the Governor was not aware of such directive.He added that the Permanent Secretary didn't pass such directive through the governor.One more photo below.
