NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Today monday Elder Godsday Orubebe was arraigned by the Code of Conduct Tribunak {CCT} on a four count charge of false declaration of assets and acceptance of about N70 Million bribe.Orubebe who was a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs,entered the courtroom few minutes to 11:am and he was ordered to enter the dock by the Chairman of the tribunal Justice Danladi Umar.The court said Orubebe while serving as a minister on or about June 29,2011 did make a false declaration in his declaration form.Then around September 19,2012 asked for and accepted the sum of fifty million naira from one Pastor {Dr} Jonathan,as bribe for the contract awarded in favour of his company,Chemtronics Nigeria Limited.Then aroundd twenty thirteen still as a minister,he asked for and accepted the sum of twenty million naira from one Pastor {Dr} Jonathan Alota as additional bribe for the contract awarded in favour of his company Chemtronics Nigeria Limited ffor the aquisition Centre at Edo state for the sum of one billion naira eighty eight kobo {N1,799,914,251.88k}Orubebe pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him.The case was adjourned to 26th November 2015 for hearing.
