The United States today thursday, donated 24 Mine Resistant Armour protected Vehicles {MRAP} to Nigeria. The vehicles were donated to the Nigerian army to boost their anti-terror operations and the vehicles were retrieved from Iraq and Afghanistan. The Excess Defense Articles Programme is designed  to transfer excess military equipment from the U.S to foreign governments or iinternational organisations to help with moderation of partner nation military capabilities.According to the U.S Embassy's Defence Attache,Col.Patrick Doyle, who represented Ambassador James Entwistle said that The vehicles became U.S Army's assets following the downsizing of U.S military and the country's withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan. However, about 50 percent of the vehicles are faulty, with no spare parts to repair them for quick deployment to war zone.It will cost the military millions of dollars to fix the and equip the MRAP to standard use.Instead of repairing it with so much dollars why can't they buy new vehicles with the money for repairs.More photos below.
