 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023. THE GHANA MAN THAT MURDERED HIS BRITISH,ACTRESS PARTNER WAS ARRESTED YESTERDAY.

               Police in Ghana said yesterday saturday that they had tracked down and arrested the partner of a British actress whose body was found dead in the garden of her London home this week along with those of their two young sons.Arthur Simpson-Kent is wanted in connection with the murder of Sian Blake,a former actress in the popular soap opera EastEnders,and the two boys, zachary and Amon.The family had been reportedly missing in mid-December.According to a police spokesman in Ghana he said ''The suspect has been arrested by police and i can confirm his identity.He was at a hideout in in Weatern Region.With the kind of collaboration between the police and the public that we have,we maanaged to nab him there''.A spokesman for interpol in Ghana said the suspect was being driven back from the port city of Takoradi to the capital Accra and would arrive late on saturday.In a statement released in London,Scotland Yard police said tthey had been made aware of an arrest in Ghana and were working alongside Ghanaian authorities.More photos below.
