 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

LAGOS STATE GOVT,URGES ITS CITIZENS TO CELEBRATE EASTER IN MODERATION & AVOID WALKING ALONE IN THE NIGHT ESPECIALLY IN DARK PLACES.

                                      The Lagos state government has assured Lagosians of their safety during the Easter holidays as it is collaborating with security agencies to put in place necessary security measures that will guarantee safety of lives and properties in the state.In a statement issued yesterday wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy Mr Steve Ayorinde,the government described the safety of Lagosians as top priority during the Easter celebrations as the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode will not shirk from its function of protecting the lives and property of its citizens.Ayorinde urged residents and visitors to the state to be conscious of their environment and report promptly any unusual movement,abandoned objects,packages and strange faces in their neighbourhood to security agencies as security personnel have been put on alert throughout the state.While urging Lagosians to celebrate the Easter in moderation,the statement also advised citizens to avoid,as much as possible,walking alone at night,especially on deserted streets.While wishing Lagosians a happy Easter celebrations,Ayorinde reiterated the Akinwunmi Ambode administration's commitment and capacity to go after,and suppress any act of criminality in any part of the state.He therefore urged them to take advantage of the state's toll free lines-112 and 767 in reporting any case of crime or emergency within their neighbourhood.One more photo below.
