A nun convent in Ghana is likely to soon be closed,since Ghanaian women have refused to become nuns for the past 18 years,since it has been in operation.The Philippine nuns who opened the convent with hopes of filling their ranks haved aged and their superiors have threatened to close the convent if they don't get any members in five years.Only one Ghanaian woman tried to join the Carmelite nuns but ran away.According to sources who said a local Ghanaian woman said ''Leaving my family,my friends behind to go and live such a contemplative life?.I don't think i could do it.I would not be allowed to even watch television.God!''.Father Gerald Zenah,Chaplain of the Catholic Youth in Tamale believes that amending the conditions for entry and raising the age limit of being younger than 40 years might make things better according to DW.One more photo below.
