 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

              .The duke and Duchess of Cambridge pose for a photograph in Thimphu Bhutan,on thursday April 14,2016.The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on a weeklong visit to India and Bhutan,their first royal tour in two years.According to sources,Bhutan's new crown prince was bestowed with a name today saturday at a solemn religious ceremony at a majestic 17th century palace that houses the relics of a famous Buddhist master.The 2 and half month old son of King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema was given the name Jigme Namgyal Wangchuck at the ceremony.Bhutan's king and queen prayed a a Buddhist monastery in the capital,thimphu,before driving to Punkha,where the ceremony took place.Today saturday,Wangchuck carried the baby prince,draped in a yellow blanket,as he walked the short distance alongside his wife to the Punakha Dzong complex,followed by Buddist monks in maroon robes and musicians pipes.Wangchuck ascended Bhutan's throne in November 2008,when his father,king Jigme Singhye Wanchuck,abdicated in his favor.Bhutan fist began opening up to the world in the 1060s.Foreigners and the international media were first admitted in 1974,and the internet and television finally arrived in 1999.More photos below.
